A FUNDRAISER has been recognised with an award from Falmouth Rotary Club.
Rod Allday was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship award from Peter Griffiths, president of the club.
Paul Harris was the founder of the worldwide Rotary organisation back in 1905 and the award is a mark of respect from his club.
Rod has been responsible for many of the club’s successful fundraising events over the past 20 years, including the Mawnan Fun Run, now called Run Mawnan, and was actively involved in the provision of water and sanitation that the club sponsored in Uganda.
He is known to many locally for the quiz nights that he and his wife Pauline organise, raising many thousands of pounds for various charities over the years.
Rod is presently helping to set up a parkrun for the Falmouth area on the Penryn Campus and Falmouth Rotary Club has agreed to donate the amount of £500 from the monies raised by this year's Run Mawnan event towards the £3,000 needed to establish the parkrun.
