The executive chef of world-renowned London restaurant The Ivy is to hold a takeover night at a Falmouth restaurant next month.

Alan Bird will be cooking a special eight-course menu at INDIdog on November 13, which will be in aid of the Fishermen's Mission.

Alan is a friend of INDIdog head chef Paul Ripley, former head chef at Rick Stein's Seafood Bar who previously ran his own restaurant in St Merryn where he was awarded a Michelin star.

INDIdog owners Simon and Vanessa Clark, who also own the Highcliffe Guesthouse, said: "When Paul told us that his good friend Alan Bird, 23 years executive chef of The Ivy, would like to come and cook an evening in INDIdog we held each other up.

"The Ivy is amongst the most amazing restaurants in the world and who would have thought Alan would be in our restaurant?"

The couple added that they "didn't hesitate" when the chefs said they wanted to dedicate the night to the Fishermen's Mission charity.

"Of course we would want to give back to those men and women who have fed our nation and kept Britain's restaurants in business.

"If they fall on hard times, then we owe it to them to return the favour," they said.

Doors open at 6.30pm for canapes and fizz ahead of the 7pm meal, with the evening cost £60 per person, which includes a donation to the charity. The evening will also feature Falmouth Shout singers performing a selection of sea shanties.
