Devastated family and friends are rallying behind the partner and son of a popular Helston father who unexpectedly died from complications following heart surgery.

Adam Rosevear, who grew up on the Lizard Peninsula but now lived in Helston and was known to many people for his smiling face behind the counter at Whirlwind Sports, passed away on Friday.

Now a fund set up to help his partner Amalie Nunneley and their seven-year-old son has raised more than five times its target in less than three days.

The online page gofundme.com/adam-rosevear, set up by close friends Angela May Simmonds, Toni Sharkey and Rhiannon Willey, currently sits at £4,950 while a second fundraiser at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/adam-rosevear by his colleagues at Whirlwind Sports has raised a further £1,000.

His partner Amalie said Adam had undergone a successful operation in London to repair a broken heart valve on October 7.

However, after a returning home a week later he started to deteriorate and by the time it was discovered that a complication had arise, the fluid that had built up around his heart could not be drained in time.

She said: "The beautiful love of my life, the daddy of our amazing boy, son, brother, uncle and loved friend of so many passed away on Friday, 25th of October into a forever lasting sleep."

She went on to thank everyone who had rallied behind the family since news of his passing broke, adding: "I cannot every thank you enough for all your kindness and loving thoughts that you have conveyed. This will, in time, help to smooth our totally broken hearts."

Explaining the reason behind their fundraising page, Angela and Toni said: "He was so loved by many. Unfortunately none of us, including his family, saw this coming, and no insurance was put into place.

"We need help and everybody's generosity to help his more grieving family through this awful horrendous time. To help with funeral funding and being allowed time to grieve without the pressure of being pushed back to work so quickly.

"We all loved him so, so much and his smile and cuddles will be remembered forever. Never forgotten. Another legend gone.

so please can we all pull together and help in this terrible time."

His colleagues have also paid tribute to a "very kind and honest gentleman who would help everyone."

Falmouth Packet:

They said: "It’s with the deepest of heartfelt condolences we announce we have lost one of our Whirlwind Sports family.

"He was a member of our family for the last ten years and would always be there for you.

"We know Adam has far reaching friendships through working with us and we wanted to add a just giving page to allow all who knew Adam to help his family with funeral costs and family living needs. This will help and will be one less thing for his family to worry about at this very difficult time.

"We will all miss you Adam."
