Helston Athletic Football Club has revealed that financial reasons are behind this evening's announcement that it will not be holding its annual fireworks display this year.
The popular display at the Kellaway Park ground always attracts hundreds of people and is a highlight of the Bonfire Night calendar for many.
However, this evening the Helston Football Club Fireworks Spectacular page on Facebook posted: "It is with enormous disappointment that I have been informed that the annual fireworks show will not take place this year.
"We (Gary and Gavin) are gutted as it is definitely one of highlights of the year for us.
"There had been a lot of work planning the display and believe me no one is more upset than us.
"Hopefully next year the show will back.
"Sorry for the disappointment."
A club spokesperson has since told the Packet: "The event has become commercial unviable due to inflated costs, particularly that of event insurance."
Last year the display had to be postponed due to strong winds making it unsafe to continue on the planned Saturday night, meaning it was delayed until the Monday.
