A dog has died after falling over the edge of a cliff this lunchtime.
Coastguards and the RNLI were called to Western Cove at Portreath just before 12.15pm.
However, when volunteers from Portreath Coastguard Rescue Team arrived, the dog was unresponsive.
A spokesperson said: "When the team arrived on scene the animal was observed not to moving, so the St Agnes Inshore Lifeboat ventured in to the beach and the crew removed the dog from the cove."
He added that the animal was confirmed to have died.
"Please, when walking your dogs on or near the cliff tops, keep them on a lead at all times," added the spokesperson.
