Three planned developments which would provide affordable homes are among those set to have decisions about planning permission.

Cornwall Council’s west sub-area planning committee will meet on Monday (October 21) in Penzance to consider nine planning applications.

They include a full planning application for 23 homes on land off Tregenna Fields in Camborne which would include six affordable homes.

Planning officers have recommended that the plans be approved subject to an agreement about the provision of affordable homes, a contribution towards additional school places and money for off-site open space and highways/transport.

The second application is for outline permission for an exception site scheme to build affordable housing at Ashton, near Helston.

Again the application is recommended for approval subject to the affordable homes being agreed along with a financial contribution for education and funding for open space provision.

Breage Parish Council has objected to the application saying that the affordable homes are not needed and that there is insufficient infrastructure.

An application will also be considered to build four houses on land in Ruan Minor which has been recommended for approval.

However Grade Ruan Parish Council and local Cornwall councillor Carolyn Rule have objected saying that the development would harm the area of outstanding natural beauty.

The fourth application is for outline planning permission for up to 30 homes, led by affordable housing, on land at Connor Downs.

Planning officers have recommended approval on condition of the affordable housing and restrictions on who can occupy them as well as funding towards education and open space.

Gwinear Gwithian Parish Council has objected to the plans saying that there is no need for additional affordable housing.

The other applications include a reserved matters application for two new homes to be built in Nancegollan and a full application for a single house in Gwealhellis Warren, Helston. Both are recommended for approval.

Councillors will also consider plans to build two detached homes in Illogan and two affordable homes in West Tolgus, Redruth. Planning officers have recommended approval for both applications.

The west sub-area planning committee will meet in Penzance at 10am on Monday.
