Efforts to make Flora Day 'plastic free' will continue at next year's event, with the aim of single-use plastic being totally absent from the street market come 2022.
This May marked the first time that stallholders using alternatives to plastic were given a certificate to display, giving customers the chance to choose between traders.
The same will happen in 2020, with notice given that stallholders complying with the plastic free remit in 2021 will be given an agreed refund following an inspection.
The amenities committee of Helston Town Council also agreed to hire six pairs of tin and glass recycling bins to put between the Guildhall and the fair on May 8, and to start an advertising campaign urging residents and visitors to take their waste and recycling home.
