THERE are reports of a five-vehicle crash in Helston.

The crash has happened on the A394 westbound, around Whitehill Terrace and The Furry.

Local reports are suggesting that a substance, possibly oil, has caused a slippery road surface and the vehicles shunted into one another.

It caused severe congestion on the road to Penzance, not far from the boating lake roundabouts.

The road was initially fully blocked, however it remains partially blocked for recovery work.

Police remain on scene to warn motorists to check their speed.

UPDATE: The road has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal.
