A MUM from Falmouth has raised more than £700 in her first fundraising event for charity.

Danika Cavill, 32, who has previously volunteered in Tanya's Courage Trust in Penryn, has been supporting charities for a while and wanted to host her own event for Macmillan.

She said: "Macmillan has supported my family over the last couple of years and again started support in more recent months when sadly my auntie was diagnosed with cancer.

"When you are struck by this devastating news you kind of feel really helpless but want to really support everyone involved in this stormy moment. Macmillan are amazing at what they do and I also thought it would be saying a huge thank you to all of the team that not only are supporting my family but millions of others going through a very difficult time."

She said that her aim is to focus on a particular charity each year cnad carry out some fundraising events to increase awareness and support.

As part of the national World's Biggest Coffee Morning, she hosted the event at the Arwenack Club. There were stalls, coffee and cakes, games with prizes and an appearance from mascot Woody.

Danika thanked Summertime Entertainment who made Woody available, as well as her family, the club and more than 30 local businesses.

She added: "I would also like to say a huge thanks to every single person who kindly attended the event, the people who donated prizes, there time and all of their kind donations. It really was amazing and I am so humbled. We raised an phenomenal £713.51 for Macmillan. And I know this money will go along way and mean the absolute world."
