A WOMAN has been found dead on the rocks of a west Cornwall beach this evening.

Penzance coastguards were tasked to Perranuthnoe Beach, near Rosudgeon, by their operations centre in Falmouth, following a request for assistance from Devon & Cornwall Police.

Having received a report of a female on rocks at Perranuthnoe coastguards were requested to assist police and paramedics on scene to recover the woman from the location.

Porthleven coastguards was also tasked to assist us in this operation. Coastguard Area Commander “AC 11” also attended.

Quickly on scene, the team deployed Coastguard Rescue Officers and equipment to enable an extrication from the location take place.

Paramedics confirmed on scene that the lady was deceased. Once recovered and transportation arranged all units were free to return to their respective Stations.

A coastguard spokesman said: "Our thoughts and condolences go to to the family and friends of the lady."
