Up to 500 homes are without power in the Falmouth and Penryn area this evening in what has been described as a "high voltage incident."

Engineers from Western Power are said to be en route to the area following the loss of power just before 6.30pm.

The electricity company's website says that 395 properties are currently without power, but one resident has reported being told that around 500 homes are affected.

She also reported hearing a "bang."

The company is currently predicting that power should be restored by 8pm.

Western Power is describing it as a "high voltage incident," saying: "These incidents tend to be larger, affecting the wider area and could mean your neighbours are off supply too."
