Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union (The SU) has appointed a new chief executive officer.

Sarah Davey has a wealth of experience working with students’ unions and joins The SU from the University of Plymouth’s Students’ Union, where she previously held the role of deputy chief executive and director of membership services.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining The SU team and becoming part of such a progressive and dynamic community. The strategic direction of The SU and both universities is exciting and I am looking forward to deepening partnerships with all key stakeholders to help us achieve our aims.

"I have been impressed with the quality of representation and delivery, and the valuable contribution that The SU brings to the lives of students in Cornwall and beyond.

"The passion and dedication embodied within the staff and officer team is infectious and I am confident that, together, we will continue to develop an already outstanding union.”

The new CEO will work with the elected sabbatical officers at The SU to deliver the strategic plan, and develop services and projects to enhance the student experience for students studying at Falmouth University and the University of Exeter in Cornwall.

Allie Guy, president welfare and inclusivity, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sarah as our new chief executive officer. All those involved in the recruitment process, from students’ union and university staff, to student representatives, are extremely confident in Sarah’s abilities.

"Sarah stood out for her people-driven approach and her commitment to partnership and collaboration, and we look forward to working with her to continue to develop the Union’s success.”
