A Helston based ethical childrenswear business is celebrating after winning an accolade in the Drapers Independent Awards held in London.

Frugi won the Kids Brand of the Year title when the elite of independent fashion retailers come together.

Hugo Adams, Frugi's chief executive, said: “It’s fantastic to have been awarded Kids Brand of the Year. We have an amazing brand built by great people and we pride ourselves on how we work with our retailers. Our stockists globally are a key part of our Frugi Family and we have all grown together over the past 15 years.

"We’re delighted with the comments of the judges that show just how strong these relationships are. As we embark on the next phase of our growth plan we look forward to continuing to strengthen these partnerships as well as welcoming new retailers into our Frugi Family. Exciting times ahead for everyone.”

The awards celebrate the achievements of the very best independent fashion retailers from across the UK and Ireland, and the bestselling brands that make them so successful.

This prestigious event is one of the most respected in the industry.

Feedback included: “Judges called this phenomenal business 'absolutely incredible' and, thanks to the support it offers its independent retailers, said it looked to be a “dream supplier” – “just the kind of brand independents want to work with.”

Graeme Moran, Drapers head of content – fashion and features, said: “Independent retailers never fail to impress us, and this year’s entries were no different – whether it be their high standard of customer service, engaging store designs, unique mix of brands or innovative use of digital and social media.

"The standard of entries was particularly high this year, which is remarkable given the challenges facing fashion retail. It demonstrates the talent and innovation across the sector, as well as the passion and resilience of the UK and Ireland’s independent retailers. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.”
