Entries to Helston Carnival came in two by two on Saturday until a whole host of colourful floats and walkers were gathered for the event at which Noah's Ark triumphed.

The group of family and friends from Helston, The Lizard, St Keverne and Edgcumbe were crowned overall winners with their Bible story themed float, complete with ark and animal pairings.

Helston mayor John Martin had the difficult task of narrowing down the winners in each category, which included large float, small float, decorated bike/buggy/wheelchair, vintage vehicle, group walkers, adult walker and child walker.

The weather remained dry and sunny, which helped attract the crowds who lined the route to watch the procession go by.

Entrants left Tesco car park at 6pm to head down Trengrouse Way to Meneage Street, down Coinagehall Street, back up again into Wendron Street and Godolphin Road, then along Clodgey Lane back to the supermarket.

They were led by Helston Town Band, who got into the spirit of the occasion and for one night only became Helston 'Clown' Band, dressed as circus performers.

The event was once again sponsored by Flambards and Dean Woods from the theme park was there to join in the fun, along with mascot Ferdi the Fox.
