A fire has been causing problems on the A30 and A39 this afternoon.

There is queuing traffic on the A39, following an earlier caravan fire near the A30.

This broke out between the B3285 road near Zelah and the Carland Cross roundabout on the A30, with smoke billowing across the road to the A39.

As a result, police have shut access to the B3285 from the A30 and diverted traffic.

This has caused a heavy build up of vehicles on the A39.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that a fire engine from Perranporth had been called to the Boxheater junction just after 2pm, with the police also attending.

The spokesperson said: “One caravan was totally destroyed by fire and the car was detached and moved to a safe distance away.

“The crew used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“The cause of the fire was believed to accidental.”
