Both the lifeboat crew and coastguard team from Falmouth were scrambled yesterday after a dog fell over a cliff.

The animal toppled over the edge of the cliff near Portscatho, on the Roseland, at around 6.45pm.

Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team was called as back up to the Portscatho volunteers.

Falmouth’s inshore lifeboat was also sent, but was unable to get close enough to the dog.

A coastguard rope rescue was then decided as the best course of action.

The Falmouth coastguards were stood down as they neared the King Harry Ferry to cross over to the peninsular, as they were no longer needed.

The condition of the dog is not currently known.
