The main road between Falmouth and Helston has reopened following a crash involving a motorbike.

The A394 was closed in both directions, due to the incident between Retanna Holiday Park near Edgcumbe and the Twycross House Hotel at Rame Cross, which took place at 2.15pm.

The road was eventually reopened both ways by 6.15pm.

Police said a motorcyclist suffered a serious pelvic injury and was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 2.15pm to the A394 at Rame Cross, Penryn following reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

"The rider is believed to have sustained multiple serious injuries and has been taken to Treliske hospital by land ambulance.

"The road is currently closed at the Post Office and Highways have been requested to assist with road closures and diversion."

The closure has been affecting the bus timetable, with First Kernow reporting that the U4 is currently running up to 45 minutes late.

The company said: "We are sorry for the inconvenience caused."
