Homes and businesses in Rame and parts of the Helston and Redruth area will have to wait longer for their water to be restored after further damage was discovered. 

A number of properties in the TR10, TR13 and TR16 postcode areas has been have been without water for most of today. 

A spokesperson for the company told the Packet this morning: "South West Water is repairing a burst water main in a field at Higher Polighey Farm, Carnmenellis, which was reported to us at 8.30am this morning.

"We are revalving the network to keep as many customers in water as possible."

She said said the firm had received 42 calls from customers in the area reporting that they have no water.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused," added the spokersperson. 

A second spokesperson has now given a revised time for when the water supply should be restored, after more damage was discovered. 

He said: "While working to repair a burst water main in a field at Higher Polighey Farm, Carnmenellis we experienced a second burst on the pipe.

“We have now completed both repairs and all customers should have their supplies fully restored by 6.30pm.”

Elsewhere in the area this morning, there was reported to be a leak in the Queen Anne Gardens area of Falmouth.

South West Water said: "We are making arrangements, including traffic control, to repair this leak as soon as possible."
