A public meeting has been called in Budock this Thursday with the aim of creating an action group to tackle the climate emergency.

It will take place in the village hall, with doors opening at 6pm ahead of a prompt 7pm start.

Organisers have said: "This event is aimed at informing, and seeking the views of, Budock parish residents of the 'climate crisis', with the idea of drawing together a neighbourhood resilience working group, with the intention of identifying practical activities we can do to help mitigate the climatic effects we will experience."

Manda Brookman will explain the current climate situation, before Charmain Lakre gives ideas on how people can 'think globally' but 'act locally'.

There will also be a talk from Rachel Lewis about community woodlands, and Treverva, Lamanva and Budock Tree Association.

This is a new organisation that hopes to plant trees around at Argal Lake and the surrounding area that will benefit biodiversity.

It has formed in the wake of what it describes as "unprecedented development" in Falmouth and Penryn, with a view to seeing where extra recreational woodland can be created.

Simon Miles, from the Forest Garden at Budock Water, will be overseeing the event.
