The future of St Martin Craft and Horticultural Show looks bright following a surge in exhibits in the children's classes.

It was a good year for entries across the show, which took place on Saturday at Trewince, near Newtown-in-St Martin.

Pippa Alston was awarded the cup for the best exhibit in show - along with cups for art and photography - while Clarence Thomas retained the cup for most points in show, along with three other cups for vegetables and flowers.

Mollie Chilcott won the cup for most points in the children's section, while the much-coveted cup for best Cornish pasty was won by one of the show's younger competitors, Harvey Bone.

Prizes were presented by Rev Mike North.

Visitors were also able to enjoy a range of stalls, a raffle and teas, accompanied by music from Cober Valley Accordion Band who rounded off the afternoon with a rousing chorus of Trelawny.

Money raised during the afternoon will this year be donated to St Martin Parish Hall and The Helford River Children's Sailing Trust.
