The Poldark Costume Ball sold out to guests and fans of the TV series from all over the world, including America, Canada and Australia.

Guests arrived at Trevince Estate Gardens in full period costume, with the opportunity to meet three actors from the Poldark Series Heida Reed (Elizabeth), Ellise Chappell (Morwenna) and Christian Brassington (Reverend Ossie Whitworth).

“We were delighted with the success of our event," said Richard and Trish Stone, owners of Trevince and its historic estate gardens in Gwennap, near Redruth.

“The Cornwall Air Ambulance is a vital emergency service for everyone in Cornwall and we were very keen to do our bit for such a worthy cause."

Guests were served glasses of prosecco on arrival in the beautiful setting of the historic estate gardens, where the stars shared their stories from behind the scenes on set.

On arrival at the main house, guests were they were saluted by the red-coated 32nd Lightfoot Infantry, then formally announced into the hall by the Truro Town Crier.

Above from the gallery, Mike O’Connor and his Hantergantic Quartet played music from the Poldark series (some of which Mike composed himself), with period dancing in the Drawing Room led by Mistress Caller, Diana Campbell.

Guests were then treated to a four-course candlelit feast, cooked by Rupert Cooper of the Philleigh Way Cookery School and specially created gin cocktails by The Juniper Club named ‘The Red Lady’ and ‘The Cornish Captain’.

The exciting finale was a charity auction, led by local auctioneer Edward Buckland.

The star attractions were a shirt and waistcoat which Aidan Turner wore and the stunning oil painting of Elizabeth seen in the current series.

There were also two Lots donated by Luke Norris (Dr Enys) and many Lots donated by local businesses.

Together ticket sales and auction proceeds raised just over £13,000 for the New Heli Appeal, well exceeding their target of £10,000.

“The small committee and the Stones worked very hard to create this unique event and as a result, a superb amount was raised for the New Heli Appeal,” said Amy Richards, appeal manager.
