More than 50 Cornwall Care staff will be taking to the water for Falmouth Week’s dragon boat race on Sunday, August 18.

It is the first time that the charity has entered the event to raise money for Cornwall Care’s residents’ amenities fund, while on the day donations will go to the Alzheimer’s Society.

“We’re really excited to be entering teams from Mountford in Truro, Trevern in Falmouth and Blackwood in Camborne, as well as one representing our support office in Truro,” said Andrea Redfern, Cornwall Care’s employee engagement and wellbeing advisor.

“The event will not only raise awareness of Cornwall Care as a charity, but it will also promote and encourage physical and mental wellbeing amongst out staff which supports our employee health and wellbeing strategy.

“Our amenities fund recently bought a ‘magic’ table for two of our homes – interactive technology projected on to tables and floors that our residents love. Each projection system costs around £7,000 and we want to buy more. The advance sponsorship donated through our Just Giving pages will go towards this.”

Cornwall Care, the county’s largest social care provider, runs 16 care homes and a community outreach network.
