FALMOUTH’S big summer celebration begins today.

Falmouth Week 2019 is ready to go, with events running across the town from Friday, August 9, to Sunday, August 18.

Here we’ll look at some of the highlight of what is sure to be another cracking week for the town.

It all kicks off with the Pink Wig Night, which heads through the town in a riot of colour on this evening (Friday).

On Saturday, August 10, there’s a Comic and Movie Fest taking place from 10am to 3pm in Events Square, offering plenty for fans to get stuck into.

August 10 is also the day for Falmouth Marching Carnival, with events at the rugby club from 11am before the parade itself marches off at 6.30pm, arriving at Events Square for a party starting at 7.30pm.

Wednesday, August 14, is a big day, with the Action Sports Tour and RNLI on the Quay, before arguably the most-anticipated event of the week, the Falmouth Week Air Show.

With the Red Arrows busy abroad this year, stepping up are The Blades, Aerosuperbatic Wingwalkers and The Strikemaster Pair set to wow what will surely be massive crowds over the beach.

There is live music across the week at Events Square, kicking off with The Wurzels Cider and Hog Roast night on Sunday, August 11, with other highlights including The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on Wednesday, August 14, and the 80s v 90s Extravaganza on Friday, August 16.

Dragonboat racing takes place on Sunday, August 18, always a spectacular sight.

And, of course, staying on the water, Falmouth Week is also home to Falmouth Sailing Week from August 11 to 18.

A week of cracking racing is on the cards, with the big highlight being the Ancasta Champagne Race on Wednesday, August 14.
