A new café has opened on the Lizard Peninsula, just in time for the summer season.

Becky Williams has launched The Country Kitchen on her parents’ farm where she grew up.

It is based on the main road to The Lizard, between the two Ruan Minor turnings.

Becky said: “I love my baking and cooking. My parents have a beef farm and a campsite they run alongside it, so we thought it would be really nice to offer something a bit extra and then open it to the public as well.”

She has converted a shipping container to create the café, with half of it the counter and display area and the other half her kitchen where she makes all her own cakes.

She also serves light lunches including salads, paninis and sandwiches, plus cream teas.

“I just jumped in with both feet and it’s a sink or swim moment I guess!” added mum-of-two Becky, who opened the doors to her café two weeks ago and since then has received a warm welcome.

“I’m really enjoyed it and everyone seems to love it,” she said.

The café is open Sunday to Friday, 11am to 5.30pm, and currently closed Saturdays, although Becky is currently looking into opening all weekend and potentially extending the hours during peak season.
