An inquest has been opened into the death of a man pulled from the water off Prussia Cove.
James Andrew Nelson, known as Drew, was recovered from the sea and taken into the neighbouring beach at Praa Sands but died at the scene.
Police identified him at the time as a 43-year-old man from County Down, but he is understood to have been living and working in the Penzance area.
The Penlee lifeboats, Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team and the coastguard helicopter attended the incident on Friday, June 28, alongside Praa Sands beach lifeguards, air ambulance and ambulance, and Devon and Cornwall Police.
An inquest into his death has now been opened by the coroner and a hearing will take place at a future time.
His death was not being treated as suspicious by police.
