A postie making deliveries in Falmouth called 999 after they spotted smoke inside a house.
Firefighters were sent to Frobisher Terrace just before 12.25pm yesterday.
Three crews from Falmouth and Truro found electrical equipment to be on fire and used two hosereels to put out the flames.
They then called in engineers from Western Power, to check the equipment and make it safe.
