Children’s Hospice South West Falmouth Friends Group held a garden party to celebrate its 20th anniversary and raise further funds for the charity on Sunday.

The sun shined down on more than 80 guests at Penmorvah Manor Hotel.

It was officially opened by Eddie Farwell MBE, co-founder and chief executive of CHSW. He thanked everyone for their support and in particular the Falmouth Friends Group who had raised over £500,000 in their 20 years of fundraising.

Mary Murfin from the CHSW Falmouth Friends Group said: "We are grateful to everyone who attended the event which helped to make it a great success with £700 raised.

"As CHSW is the only charity in the South West providing specialist care and respite support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, we’re really pleased to give our time to Children’s Hospice South West fundraising and help in its mission to make the most of short and precious lives."

The Falmouth Friends Group of CHSW thanked The Glee Singers and Lanner Brass Academy for providing an enjoyable afternoon of entertainment; everyone who attended or made a donation; plus the Penmorvah Manor Hotel for afternoon tea and their continued support of CHSW.

CHSW’s Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell costs around £3 million a year to run which is raised almost entirely by voluntary donations. Little Harbour provides essential care and support to children living with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families.

The hospice is currently supporting 130 children and families plus bereaved families. For more information about the CHSW Falmouth Friends Group please contact Mary Murfin on 07790 986105 or email marymurfin1@gmail.com
