A former Falmouth convenience store is to be converted into housing after revised plans were given the go ahead.

Mr and Mrs Duncan resubmitted a planning application for Albany Stores in Lister Street, to change the use from a shop to residential.

The designs show the building being converted into three apartments.

The applications states that plans have been revised to reduce the number of units, due to "the complexity and unexpectedly high costs of the previous scheme, which involved extensive ground works in a confined space."

Falmouth Town Council recommended refusal, due to a lack of amenity space and councillors preferring the design of the previous scheme.

However, it was given conditional approval by planning officer Laura Potts, who said it was within walking distance of Kimberley Park and the previous scheme was unlikely to be implemented due to costs.

She added that this application had to be considered on its own merits and it offered benefits to the Conservation Area.
