A school has raised more than £1,000 in an event sponsored by donations from local buisinesses, including Asda, with proceeds going directly towards providing for its students.

Flushing C of E primary school held a fundraising auction and raffle on Saturday, June 22, which saw crowds bidding on items such as a plush sequin toy dog, donated by the supermarket chain.

This particular item sold for £46, helping Asda contribute to the total raised, in addition to the scones they provided which helped to generate funds on the refreshment stalls.

Asda now hopes to be able to match proceeds generated on the day, up to the value of £300.

Lisa Kirkpatrick, the Asda representative at the event, said: “For me, it’s always a pleasure to help at these events and see the joy our donations can bring and of course, the generosity of such supportive parents for their school.”

She added: "The dog was the last item to be auctioned at the end of a hot afternoon but this didn’t prevent a three year old, under the watchful eye of her mum, from holding up her bidding stick to ensure she got what she wanted; £46 was the winning bid which helped towards the impressive final total raised of £1,120.46."

The school have said that a special thanks should be made to the Andrew Marston who was the well dressed auctioneer, as well as Emma Walker for the exceptional amount of work she put in to make the day happen.
