Throughout the area many people will celebrate national fish and chip day tomorrow (June 7).

From the fishermen and farmers who supply the ingredients needed for fish and chips to the restaurants, pubs and fish and chip shops serving the UK’s favourite takeaway, this year’s national fish and chip day is expected to be the biggest one yet.

Tom Rubensson, General Manager at Harbour Lights in Falmouth, said: “National fish and chip day is a fun day where we get to recognise our simple yet moreish dish and to celebrate all the amazing people that go into producing a portion of our award winning fish and chips.

“Our local potato suppliers and fish merchants are such an important part of our business.

“We love the opportunity to give something back to our loyal visitors and have a bit of fun.

“This year we are celebrating our new additions to our menu to ensure everyone can enjoy fish and chips by launching this year our gluten free and vegan fish and chips.”

Harbour Lights and Fraser’s in Penzance are celebrating the day with fizz and chips, meaning every restaurant customer will receive a free glass of prosecco.

Also, there will be an opportunity for one visitor at each restaurant to win free fish and chips for a month.

Tom added: “On takeaway Sam Cod will be appearing with his sidekick Charlie Chip and Presley Pea handing out cones of fish bites and chips.

“Everyone can follow the fun by using the hashtag #nationalfishandchipday and #celebratingfishandchips.”
