A MAN will stand trial in Crown Court facing charges of running a brothel in Truro and controlling the activities of a woman for prostitution.

Kang Sean Wong, aged 34, of Tresaderns Road, Redruth, appeared before Bodmin magistrates on Friday accused of six offences as follows:

1, Between December 1, 2017 and February 2, 2018 in Plymouth he kept a brothel at 8, Battery Street, Stonehouse, to which people resorted for practices involving prostitution

2, Between November 14, 2017 and January 12, 2018, in Truro, he managed a brothel at 11a New Bridge Street to which people resorted for practices involving prostitution

3, Between October 29, 2017 and January 13, 2018, in Truro or elsewhere, intentionally controlled the activities of a woman in relation to her prostitution in any part of the world for, or in expectation of, gain for yourself

4, Between October 29, 2017 and January 13, 2018, in Plymouth, intentionally controlled the activities of a woman in relation to her prostitution in any part of the world for, or in expectation of, gain for yourself

5, On December 14, 2017 in Plymouth arranged or facilitated the travel of a woman with a view to her being exploited

6, On January 9, 2018, in Truro or elsewhere, arranged or facilitated the travel of a woman with a view to her being exploited

The case has been sent for trial under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. Mr Wong has been remanded in custody to appear via television link in Truro Crown Court on March 5.
