Huey Morgan, the Fun Lovin’ Criminal, host of BBC Radio 6 and BBC Radio 2, took Padstow by storm on Saturday (December 8) as DJ of the Sharp’s Brewery Doom Bar winter session.

A hundred people boarded Jubilee Queen, a day tripper boat, at 5pm in Padstow Harbour. The wind was gusting 40 knots, it was a five metre swell and Huey delivered the coolest of sessions like his life depended on it.

Huey took to the decks just after 7pm, as the boat left the harbour’s protection.

Falmouth Packet:

For nearly two hours he mixed one epic tune from inspirational icon into another, rocking the party as hard as the boat was rolling.

Michael Jackson’s Pretty Young Things funked into the Jackson 5’s ABC, Prince’s Wanna Be Your Lover and David Bowie’s Let’s Dance.

“We’re on the high seas - and I’m your captain!” he noted, looking pretty amazed at the scene he was in the middle of.

It was four hours of funking out with friends and a Fun Lovin’ Criminal on a boat. Guests were dancing on the benches and hanging from the poles keeping the elements out in full bright lighting. and with complete abandon.

This third Doom Bar session was an epic voyage.
