One of the largest ever consignments of stone left Falmouth Wharves on the barge Selina bound for a £2.8 million sea defence project at Hastings on Monday, writes David Barnicoat.

The 3,500 tonnes of armour rock was quarried at the Chywoon quarry Mabe.

The Hastings harbour wall project will use 24,000 tonnes of granite.

The marine civil engineering part of the scheme is being undertaken by Keynvor MorLift Ltd Falmouth-based marine contractors.

They are specialists in shoreline, coastal and offshore marine services and operations, with a wealth of experience ranging from marine renewable energy construction projects to project cargo, marine civil engineering, salvage operations and many more offshore and specialist marine services.
