STAWLEY Village Shop was given a huge welcome to the area by members of the community as they turned up for its official opening on Saturday.
The new shop has taken over from Greenham Post Office and children from the village helped to cut the ribbon and declare it officially open at 2pm.
Crowds enjoyed some bubbly to mark the occasion and browsed the newly stocked shelves in the former school kitchen.
James Corry, who owns the store with his wife, said: "It was very busy. We were inundated with people, but it was very nice, people were very complimentary. We're looking forward to getting into it now, but we know it will be hard work as well."
