Wellington slipped closer to the relegation zone following a 15-3 defeat at home to Tavistock in the Cornwall and Devon League.
The Chiefs are now fourth from bottom and, with Wessex defeating fellow cellar dwellers Liskeard-Looe, there is only one point separating the Red and Blacks from the danger zone.
With only two home fixtures remaining and visits to Falmouth, St Austell and Devonport Services still to come Wellington must try and make the most of home advantage.
