A MAN from Camborne who has been branded a "dog killer" is determined to clear his name after being accused of kicking a puppy to death near Church Lane in the town last year.

Roger Collick of West Charles Street said his life has been made a "living hell" after two girls claimed they paid him to stop kicking the puppy around like a football in an area known as the spinney in November last year.

The two teenage schoolgirls said they found the Labrador cross puppy being attacked by a group of adults who had been drinking and said that they had to pay them to stop kicking it before taking it to the Usher and Edwards veterinary surgery in Trevithick Road where it later died as a result of its injuries.

Mr Collick has now come forward as he says he can no longer go out in the town without being verbally abused and threatened by people calling him a "puppy killer".

Mr Collick said he was drinking with five other people at the spinney when two young girls approached them and asked if they would by alcohol and cigarettes for them as they were not old enough to buy them themselves.

He continued: "I can not believe those girls made up this pack of lies about me, simply because I would not buy them alcohol. I have even been threatened by people with baseball bats because they think I killed the dog."

"It has to stop now, I can not leave my caravan without someone having a go at me, it really has started to depress me."

Mr Collick also said that his caravan had been vandalised and attacked by people who still think he is responsible for killing the puppy.
