BRIDGWATER'S Tory MP Ian Liddell-Grainger is campaigning to change the "rediculous rules" that prevent councillors discussing issues in their own patch.
Cunncillors can be prosecuted by the Standards Board for taking part in a meeting or making a decision when they have an interest that could affect their judgement.
He wants Deputy PM John Prescott to change the rules because he feels councillors are being "gagged".
He has the support of some town councillors, but others, such as Labour Cllr Adrian Moore, feel the rules serve to protect the public.
