Athletic sisters from Helston Community College have both qualified for the national finals after impressive performances at the county cross-country championships.
Competing against the top runners from across Cornwall, year eight student Elisha Hurst became the under-13 girls county champion - beating her nearest rival by some 20 seconds and achieving a personal best time for the run.
Her sister, Charlotte, who is in year ten at the Helston college, also performed well in a hard-fought under-15 girls race. She eventually finished in a strong seventh place, just a few seconds behind the winner.
The girls, who both train with Cornwall Athletics Club, now go on to compete at the national finals, to be held in Nottingham in March.
