VANDALS have left a trail of destruction in Truro after 14 cars were attacked in a space of just nine days.

The attacks all happened at various different times between January 13 and 22 in the city and two of the cars were stolen while the other 12 were vandalised or damaged in some way.

The two stolen cars were taken between January 18 and 21. A blue Ford Escort hatchback was stolen from Malabar Road but was later found in Stokes Road on January 22.

The seconds car was a blue Rover Metro registration L264MRY and was stolen from Strangways Terrace between 2.30pm on January 18 and 11.30am January 19.

The other twelve cars were attacked on the following roads, City Road, Copes Gardens, Penwerris Road, Daniell Road, Cornish Crescent, Penweathers Lane, Treliske lane, Penelewey and Kenwyn Road.

Some of the cars were simply vandalised and had their windscreens smashed, lights broken and doors damaged while others were damaged as thieves tried to get into the cars to steal items left in view.

While one car had its petrol cap forcibly removed and petrol siphoned out of the tank.
