POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses to a road traffic collision in which three dogs including a guide dog died.
The incident happened at about 6.30pm last Tuesday (January 17) on the A303 westbound carriageway near to the Sparkford roundabout.
The dogs were with a blind man who was walking them. It appears that the dogs ran off into the carriageway of the busy A303 road.
A number of vehicles are believed to have collided with the dogs, although the drivers at the time may have thought they had hit a badger or other animal. A black Ford Cougar driven by a woman stopped at the scene.
Road policing unit officers based at Yeovil are keen to find out exactly what happened.
They believe a number of vehicles may have been using the A303 at the time and would like to speak to anyone with information. Anyone able to help is asked to contact the road policing unit at Yeovil on 0845 4567000.
