TAUNTON traders are furious at the Post Office's "ludicrous" changes in collection times, claiming they will be forced to leave their businesses unattended near closing time.

From Monday, postal workers will make their final collections at 5pm in East Street and 5.30pm in Bridge Street where just months ago the last pick up was at 7pm. Other boxes are also subject to change.

Mr Giles, who runs Bredons in East Street claimed businesses in East Street suffer from being out of the town centre and that support should come from companies like the Post Office to the specialist shops such as his.

But the Post Office held firm this week, claiming the service for next day deliveries will not be affected, providing people make the 5pm deadline.
