PENRYN ATHLETIC 0 PERRANPORTH 2 - TWO second half goals earned Jolly's Combination League newcomers Perranporth all three points from their visit to Kernick Road. It also lifted them above Athletic in the table by virtue of having scored one more goal.
It was Athletic who created all the early chances with Darren Friend shooting wide from 12 yards when well placed.
A cross from Friend almost brought an opening goal, but goalkeeper Steve Barclay tipped the ball round the post.
The chances regularly popped up for Athletic, but when Ben Ambrose whipped the ball across the face of the goal Shane D'Cotta knocked his shot wide of the target.
Perranporth had a couple of openings, but both efforts cleared the bar in a goalless but never dull first half.
The visitors took the lead in the second half when a passback failed to reach Barrie Wyatt in goal and that allowed Damien Bispham the chance to control the ball and and have time to crack his shot into the corner of the net.
Perran doubled their lead when Gary Watkins' free kick from inside his own half sailed over the head of Wyatt and into the roof of the net for a spectacular goal.
