Mullion visited St Buryan on Saturday and returned with an eight wicket defeat as the home club made no mistake in taking maximum points in their title challenge.

After being put in Mullion got off to a poor start losing the wickets of John Trewin, Dave Lockwoood and Wayne Vincent with only 35 on the board. Hopes of a speedy home win were dashed by an excellent partnership of 104 between Gareth Taylor and Danny Gillman.

Taylor was dismissed for 63 and Gillman stumped by Gavin Edwards off Andy Procter for 36. With the overs running out wickets fell quickly at the end with the last four wickets all falling with the total on 168.

The Mulllion innings survived all but three balls of the 60 available overs. An interesting fact that there wasn't a single extra in the innings. Justin Stephens took 4-38 and Andy Procter 3-32.

St Buryan wasted little time in achieving their target. Andy Procter smashed a superb century. He hit 50 in just 19 balls and his century came off 73 balls. He hit 14 fours and six sixes as he completely dominated the innings.

Paul Warbis picked up the wickets of Tim Oliver and Justin Stephens, but Procter was joined by Gavin Edwards and the pair put on an unbeaten 97 to win the game in 25 overs. Procter ended on 108 and Edwards 31 not out.

Warbis took 2 for 38 from 8 overs.

On Saturday Mullion complete their first season with a trip to Menheniot.
