Ilminster Cricket Club are expected to hear this week that they have been promoted from the Bristol and Somerset Division of the West of England League.
It is understood that the League Board met on Monday night and decided that Westland, who won the league, should stay down as their youth policy does not conform to league rules and that Ilminster, who finished second, should take their place in the higher league.
League officials were staying tight-lipped yesterday (Tuesday), but a letter is on its way to Ilminster telling them of their success.
