EVERYONE in and around Ilminster is being given the chance to take action to protect the environment with the launch of a new kerbside recycling scheme.
In October residents will be encouraged to sort and recycle their waste as part of a drive to meet tough new Government targets.
The plans were unveiled at a meeting of the Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) on Monday at Dillington House, Ilminster. The move means households will get fortnightly collections for recyclable materials including newspaper, magazines, textiles and aluminium, in addition to the usual weekly waste collections.
Every household in South Somerset will be involved in the scheme and each will receive a free specially-designed lightweight crate.
