TRAFFIC poured into Ilminster last Friday following two separate accidents on the A303 by-pass.
The collisions occurred within 15 minutes of each other and involved a total of five casualties, although none of the injuries were thought to be life threatening.
The first accident happened just before 12.30pm on the eastbound carriageway close to the junction with the A3088.
Involving a Vauxhall Astra and a sports car, three people were taken to hospital with injuries.
At approximately 12.45pm a second accident was reported, this time involving a car and a motorbike about a quarter-of-a-mile west of the Hayesend roundabout.
Police reported congestion and warned road closures would be operational until casualties were removed from the scenes and debris cleared.
