SOMERSET'S Safety Camera Partnership has vowed to step up mobile enforcement after vandals targeted the speed camera on the Ilminster bypass at the weekend.
The fire brigade was quickly on the scene after villains set fire to tyres piled round the camera on the A303, at about 2.30am on Saturday morning.
Petrol was used to ignite the tyres and a 500ml Coca Cola bottle full of fuel was found at the site.
About three weeks ago, the camera on Hornsbury Hill, Chard, suffered a similar fate and was totally destroyed. The camera has now been removed for safety reasons.
