A TOWN councillor who has left Chard to return to Cyprus should resign.
That's the view of independent town and district councillor for Chard Tony Prior.
He has asked town clerk Nick Randle to put a motion calling for businessman Theo Panteli's resignation on the agenda for the council's next meeting on Monday, September 16.
Cllr Prior told the News that his proposal will state: "This council regrets the necessity for Cllr Theo Panteli to return to Cyprus to care for his mother, recognises that duties and responsibilities of town councillors extend beyond attending occasional town council meetings, so, therefore, asks Cllr Panteli to resign his position as town councillor to allow the election of a councillor who is able to carry out the full range of responsibilities of a town councillor."
