THE Yeovil Town youth team made a great start to their Forester's Health South West Counties Youth League campaign with a convincing 5-0 away success at Basingstoke Town.

The Yeovil side played some excellent football and scored some good goals and against a young Basingstoke side they coasted through the match.

The first Yeovil goal came after 14 minutes and following a good run from Nick Jacobs, Sam Jarman followed up with a blistering shot.

Yeovil went 2-0 up soon after when the elusive Sam Jarman was on hand to steer the ball home following a great run by the impressive Carmen Nataro. And it was Nataro who made it 3-0 before half-time with a mazy run and fine finish.

The second-half was again all Yeovil with everybody playing their part, but they had to wait until the 68th minute for their fourth goal when Nataro neatly lobbed the advancing keeper.

Dean Ritchie, who had his best game for a while, finished off the scoring with ten minutes left. His pace took him clear of the Basingstoke defence and he finished well past the oncoming keeper to make it 5-0.

The back four of Ian Linney, Paul Henbest, Richard Leach and Steven Reed was very solid while Sam Jarman and Matty Hann worked hard in the midfield. Up front both Nataro and Ritchie were excellent with Nataro and defender Henbest named 'men-of-the-match.'

On Saturday the youth team are at home to Clevedon with the match taking place at RNAS Yeovilton with an 11am kick-off.

The team have also drawn Cirencester Academy in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup with the match scheduled to be played before September 21.
