OVER 600 bikers put on their leathers on Sunday to take part in the annual Martin Jennings Memorial run, raising over £2,000 for charity.

Despite periods of torrential rain the motorcyclists formed up in Garras Wharf car park, Truro before heading off along the A30 for Falmouth.

The run has been staged every year since Martin Jennings, of Beacon, Camborne, died while competing in the Manx Grand Prix in the early 1980s.

All the riders donated £3 to take part in the ride with all the money going to the Children' s Hospice South West' s Lion Heart Appeal.

The group went as far west as Penzance taking in Gweek, Helston, Penzance, Newquay and Wadebridge.

The run also stopped at Beacon, Martin' s home village at 3pm, then headed off for Helston before finally finishing at Gyllngvase car park in Falmouth at around 4pm.

Organiser Dave Saunby said the event had been extremely successful with hundreds of people lining the route.

"The bridges were packed with people," he said "When we arrived at Beacon, Martin' s home village there were loads of people there, it was packed out. We held a minute' s silence for Martin."
